Characters

By far my favorite element of DVAWTK is the characters! They are all so enaging and full of personality. There is a well-written variety of female supporting characters too, which I always appreciate.

The following list of characters is spoiler free! In the future I plan to add a character chart. I'm also considering uploading my notes I took while reading, but I have to edit it first.

Wenren É

Xuanyuan Sect

Sect leader of Xuanyuan Sect, a demonic cultivator who cultivates the Path of Slaughter. A frank and unfrivolous person, he has an unshakeable will. He is associated with the star Polis, sometimes called the "Seven Killing Star" or the "General Star."

Yin Hanjiang

Xuanyuan Sect

Left Protector of Xuanyuan Sect, he is Wenren É closest and most devoted confidant. He is a sword cultivator and is associated with the star Alkaid, known as the "Army Crushing/Breaking Star." When he was young, he was rescued from certain death by Wenren É.

Shu Yanyan Xuanyuan Sect

Right Protector of Xuanyuan Sect. She cultivates the Path of Desire and dual cultivates to gain power. Her star is Dubhe, the "Greedy Wolf Star." Despite her path of cultivation, or maybe because of it, she prides herself in always gaining consent first.

Xuanyuan Sect Qiu Congxue

The only female cultivator among Xuanyuan Sect's four Altar Masters. She's the master of the Hellfire Pavilion located under Ghost Peak. She cultivates the Asura path, the most dificult version of the Ghost Path. Literally has no brain (eaten by a ghost).

Baili Qingmiao Shangqing Sect

A somewhat naive but good-hearted disciple of the righteous Shanqing Sect. She is the heroine of Abusive Romance, the story that fell into Wenren É's hands. In her past life, she was a primordial goddess. She is karmically tied to Hè Wenzhao after his previous incarnation interfered with her ascension. Often distracted by her jealousy.

Shangqing Sect Hè Wenzhao

The main love interest of Abusive Romance, he somehow always has an excuse for why he slept with one woman or another. He's Shangqing Sect's chief disciple despite his personal shortcomings. In his past life he was a mortal who ascended as a god and reincarnated with Baili Qingmiao.

Zhongli Qian Zhongli Clan

The most favored heir to the Zhongli Clan, the #1 cultivation clan in the world. He cultivates being a gentleman, later explained as the Path of Sages. In Abusive Romance, he was the third love interest. A scholar with an unflappable air. His "star" is Venus, which represents wisdom.
